Post More Christian unit varriance
I said it before, I'll say it again.

The Old Faith has much more varriance in it's units - in their armor and armments. They have two sword, sword and shield, hammer and axe and other combos.

Playing Christian you mostly get sword and shield and mace and shield...and pike.
Where are the paladin wannabes, trotting along the battlefield in full plate and swinging a two-handed sword?
The two shortsword wielding assasins?
Greataxe or maul wielding beserkers?
Shield + Spear combo?

I don't think timeline has anything to do with it.

You've already got two-handed swords in-game, but it only appears in 2 places (The redicolously broad one the Springborn carry and the one Sir Tristran carries).

You do have one greataxe wielding unit, I can't recall any flails or mauls.

Spear+shield exist in the form of Royal guards, and husclars, maybe more.

Sommerborn have some interesting weaponry and some heros and Winterborn dual-wield..

No, you can't really.

I can't get a unit with a two-hander or a maul as a Christian. And units wielding two weapons? All of them are Old Faith.

Sure, I can recruit a few Old Faith units during the course of the game, but that's still an Old Faith unit that's not good for morale.

Reserach just nets me improved version of existing units (with the exception of crossbowman and that unit with the large axe) - and more importantly, research gives you default units that are neutral. And I'm talking about how the faith and order choice affects your unit selection.

ALL mounted knights use a sword (ironicly, a lance of a mace is better to use from horseback)

Frankly, I always thought Old Faith got shafted on unit variety.

With Christians/Rightful, you get Sentinels, Marksmen, Royal Guard, Crusaders, and Sangreal Knight - that's 2 light infantry, 1 crossbowmen, 1 spearmen, 1 heavy infantry. With Christian/Tyrant, you get Marauders and Wasteland Warriors, who are 1 light cavalry and 1 heavy infantry. That's 4 unit roles in either set and 5 unit roles considering both sets.

With Old Faith/Rightful, you get Springborn, Summerborn, Autumnbreed, Seelie Warriors and Seelie Archers. 3 Light Infantry, 1 archer, and 1 heavy infantry. The roster for Old Faith/Tyrant is almost exactly the same: with Unseelie being almost exactly like Seelie and Winterbreed being almost exactly like Summerborn. In either set, you have 3 roles, and putting both sets together... you still have 3 roles.
