Post DLC new units not in Scenario mode
Hi there. Recently I got KA and it is very good game overall.
Last night I got the Knights and Vassals dlc and noticed that the new units from it are not available in Skirmish mode. As well as other units in the campaign, like giants and rebel spears. :cry:
I have limited time to enjoy the game (let King Idris alone for too long and now he's pain in the a**) so playing around with custom battles (as in TW games) is important part of what the game offers to me.

Are the new units/knights from the Saxon expansion also unavailable and is there a way to include them in the Scenario mode?

Thanks

You could try console cheats to grant you the unit you want. (search for cheats in the forum)

Other than that, sounds like something to add to a mod wish list.

Speak of the devil, it works! I just played with the Guardian Ghosts in scenario mode. This would be a like mod, I guess.

1. Extract the SCENARIO.CFG file out of the game's MAPS\Files.PAK archive.
2. Find the faction you wish to play as (I picked Rightful)
3. Overwrite the unit with whatever unit you would like.
4. Save it to the MAPS folder.

Like this:

// knights

Player0Form19Alakzat=zart_tomb
Player0Form19DirectionX=0
Player0Form19DirectionY=0
Player0Form19HumanHasControl=1
Player0Form19Moral=0
Player0Form19Name=knights_of_rowena
Player0Form19PositionX=1900
Player0Form19PositionY=0
Player0Form19UnitNumber=12
Player0Form19UnitRang=RANG0
Player0Form19UnitType=knights_of_rowena
Player0Form19Visible=1

Player0Form20Alakzat=zart_tomb
Player0Form20DirectionX=0
Player0Form20DirectionY=0
Player0Form20HumanHasControl=1
Player0Form20Moral=0
Player0Form20Name=guardian_ghost
Player0Form20PositionX=2000
Player0Form20PositionY=0
Player0Form20UnitNumber=3
Player0Form20UnitRang=RANG0
Player0Form20UnitType=guardian_ghost
Player0Form20Visible=1

Holy cow! If you figured out a way to mod the game, you have to share it with the rest of the crowd as people have been aching to do so. How do you unpack the files? :)

I posted about it some time ago, but it was during a sensitive time in release development, and another mod politely pulled my post. I completely understood, no biggy. Didn't want to expose what may or may not be in a new expansion. The Neocore devs have some great work in this game.

So, here goes:
go out to Google, and search for "quickbms". It pulls up http:/aluigi.altervista.org/papers.htm
Read how to use; it does involve the command prompt. Be not afraid of the terminal.
Quickbms requires a bms file to define its extract method, use http://aluigi.altervista.org/papers/bms/king_arthur.bms

He did some great work.

Hmm it is a bit silly that the new units and heroes are not available by default in skirmish for the new DLC... it is nice that a mod can replace existing units to be replaced with the new ones... but in my humble opinion should not be necessary.

I play skirmish more than the campaign and was also dissapointed after I bought the DLC that the new units cannot be selected in Skirmish mode..

Pity..
