 Viroconium
What's the upside of taking Viroconium instead of London? I played a game halfway through, where I took London. Afterwards, I received a diplomacy quest that basically let me buy Wessex and Kent for about 30,000 gold. In another game, I took Viroconium and this time I didn't receive the diplomacy quest. I assume that the quest is tied to the London path. There seems to be no corresponding quest for Viroconium.
Also, there are 5 provinces that border London, while only 3 border Viroconium. This has an impact on how much of a return you get for the improvements that affect neighboring provinces.
The only upside I can see is that your capital is further from the frontline, if you decide to ally with Wales. This isn't really a big deal, though, and certainly isn't worth the downsides, as far as I can tell.
Am I missing something? If anyone has any thoughts on this, I'd like to hear them.

 Re: Viroconium
Viroconium is an Old Faith city and its surrounding provinces are so.
London is a Christian city and Wessex and Kent are Christian provinces.
Similarly your choice of alliance between Wales and Saxon is a cutting a decision between Welsh-Old Faith and Saxon-Christian.
The issues to deal with will simply be the welsh/Saxon/Briton issues that may come up between your knights and the fiefdoms they are in charge of. Knights may have traits which cause loyalty bonuses(or penalties) with provinces of similar(or different) faith and culture.

Will that be much of a hinder to my progression into the Old Faith ?

 Re: Viroconium
London is a Christian province so loyalty won't be as high. You can build in the stronghold to shift the religion to your own.
Low loyalty can cause issues long term.

Yeah, but you're going to take both London and Viroconium eventually anyway (rather early in the game, actually), so you'll have to deal with those issues no matter which one you choose as your capital. It just seems to me that there's not much point in taking Viroconium, even if you're old faith.

My choice to take Viroconium was due to this and that it was more away from the frontlines.

 Re: Viroconium
I just took it because it is old faith, and further away from the battlefield.

 Re: Viroconium
i prefer to take london esp as a old faith, they more provinces around london to benifit from the stronghold local modifiers, plus virioncum has a stone circle right next to it, so you can teleport there from any stronghold, so as soon as scorge arrives, any army in any stronghold can instantly teleport there, kill the army and teleport back in the same turn
which is something you cant do if virioncum is your stronghold
