Arthur Cromwell and his Arthur-saga; Very good trilogy, and very realistically read. Love the battle scenes. A must try. King Arthur, the movie with Clive Owen. I love the character of Tristan, and the way he fights with his swords.

Re: Your favorite Arthurian book / film / poem?
My goodness!! "King Arthur" 2004 is not the worst Arthurian movie only because some evil mind made "First Knight" before I soundly laughed in the cinema when Arthur opened himself a gate of the Hadrian's Wall... that the director showed us an hour before that there were needed some pairs of horses to be opened... Not mention of the Saxons from Denmark disembarking in Scotland to take England, across the mighty Hadrian's Wall. Brilliant plan, of course

If we are talking about true variations of the legend then I will say "The Legend of Prince Valiant" (it is an animation film by the way). Otherwise it is definitely "Monty Python & The Holy Grail".

For those who understand french, there is a french serie, Kaamelott. It is inspired from the Monty Python and it's really awesome (actually the only good french serie) You can see some of these here : http://www.wideo.fr/video/iLyROoaftTGn.htmlI will try to translate the episode later.

I remember reading a book about the Knights of the Round Table that was written, of all people, by John Steinbeck.
It was amazing.

Re: Your favorite Arthurian book / film / poem?
Come on gang! All this talk and no one yet hasn mentioned the classic novel (one of the earliest) Le Morte d' Arthur. I suggest reading the edited version "Tales of King Arthur" by Sir Thomas Malory. A lot of old english to bear but well worth the read especially with your curiousity piqued
